BLUEPOINT MARINE SERVICES (BMS) Carbon Reduction Plan
Business activity: Marine Activities / Boatyard Services
Baseline year: 2025
Current reporting year: 2026
Net Zero Target Year: 2035
Plan review: Annually
Document status: Initial Carbon Reduction Plan
1. Commitment to Achieving Net Zero
Bluepoint Marine Services is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and working towards achieving net zero emissions by 2035.
The company recognises the importance of reducing the environmental impact of marine activities and boatyard operations. This plan establishes a framework for measuring emissions, improving energy efficiency, transitioning away from fossil-fuel-powered equipment and adopting more sustainable working practices.
Bluepoint Marine Services will aim to reduce emissions wherever reasonably practicable and review progress regularly to support its net zero objective.
2. Current Position and Emissions Baseline
Bluepoint Marine Services has not yet completed a formal calculation of its greenhouse gas emissions. The company will collect relevant information to establish its 2025 baseline, where historical records are available, and measure its current emissions for 2026.
Emissions scope
Sources relevant to the business
Scope 1
Fuel used by company-controlled vehicles, plant, machinery, generators and other equipment
Scope 2
Purchased electricity used in workshops, offices and boatyard facilities
Scope 3
Purchased materials, waste disposal, subcontractors, transportation and other relevant supply-chain activities
Emissions will be assessed in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e), using appropriate UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors.
Where historical information is unavailable, this will be recorded transparently and the earliest suitable baseline will be established using available data.
3. Carbon Reduction Measures
3.1 Transition to Electric-Powered Plant and Machinery
Bluepoint Marine Services intends to progressively replace suitable fossil-fuel-powered plant and machinery with electric-powered alternatives. Equipment replacement will be prioritised according to operational requirements, availability, cost and potential emissions savings.
The company will assess charging requirements and electrical infrastructure to support this transition.
3.2 Reduce Fuel Consumption
The company will seek to reduce fuel consumption through efficient equipment operation, preventative maintenance, avoiding unnecessary idling and monitoring fuel usage.
3.3 Improve Energy Efficiency
The company will seek to reduce electricity consumption through energy-efficient lighting and equipment, switching off unused equipment and reviewing energy usage periodically.
3.4 Reduce Waste and Improve Recycling
The company will seek to minimise waste through improved segregation, recycling, reuse of suitable materials and responsible disposal practices.
3.5 Sustainable Purchasing and Supply Chain
Where reasonably practicable, the company will consider the environmental performance of materials, equipment, suppliers and subcontractors and identify opportunities to reduce packaging, transport and material consumption.
3.6 Staff Awareness
Relevant personnel will be encouraged to adopt efficient working practices and identify opportunities to reduce fuel use, electricity consumption and waste.
4. Implementation Timetable
Period
Planned actions
2026–2027
Begin collecting fuel, electricity, purchasing and waste data. Establish an emissions baseline and review existing plant and machinery.
2028–2029
Introduce routine emissions monitoring and prioritise practical opportunities to replace fossil-fuel-powered equipment with electric alternatives.
2030–2031
Continue equipment electrification, improve energy efficiency and review progress against the established baseline.
2032–2033
Assess remaining significant emissions sources, implement further feasible reductions and review supply-chain opportunities.
2034
Evaluate progress towards the 2035 target and develop actions to address remaining emissions.
2035
Review performance against the plan, implement further feasible reductions and assess any residual emissions requiring appropriate treatment under a credible net zero approach.
This timetable is a proposed programme. Specific replacement dates and emissions reduction targets will be confirmed following the baseline assessment and operational review.
5. Monitoring and Reporting
Bluepoint Marine Services will seek to monitor its environmental performance using available business records, including:
Fuel purchases and consumption.
Electricity consumption in kilowatt-hours.
Plant and machinery replacement records.
Waste and recycling records.
Relevant purchasing and subcontractor information.
Emissions will be calculated using appropriate conversion factors and recorded in tCO₂e. The company will review the information annually to identify trends, assess the effectiveness of reduction measures and determine whether additional actions are required.
This plan will be reviewed annually and updated to reflect progress and changes in business operations.
6. Responsibilities
Company management will oversee the implementation and review of this plan. Responsibilities will include coordinating emissions data collection, consider lower-emission equipment and working practices, reviewing progress and maintaining appropriate records.
All relevant personnel will be encouraged to support the company's environmental objectives through efficient equipment use, responsible waste management and reduced fuel and electricity consumption.
7. Commitment and Review
Bluepoint Marine Services recognises that measuring its emissions is an essential first step towards achieving meaningful carbon reductions.
The company will work towards establishing a reliable emissions baseline, progressively implementing the measures described in this plan and reviewing progress annually.
The long-term objective is to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2035, through emissions measurement, practical reductions, progressive electrification of suitable plant and machinery, improved energy efficiency and appropriate management of any residual emissions.
